i had the same problem and had to use wasapi hdmi instead of directsound and it worked
also i had to use the new gotham release not frodo i had the same stuttering playback

I´m sending it back to vendor......any other suggestions for itx Mobo, which isn´t a pain? after having contacted asrock support for over a month ago i must say i have given up on them.....let this be a lesson to others that there support isn´t existing!!!!

just a suggestion to try a different build one of the monthlys. i hadn't read that it had been tried or not as yet . it fixed my problem when i was trying to play anyhting with dtshd-ma
