Win trouble getting DTS HD sound to work
#16
seems that way when you look on this pic

http://imgur.com/txQOnxj

1. I´m using HDMI
2. I have tried with wasapi but gets´s the same stuttering result every time
3. i have enabled all of them but still stuttering appears even with the "realtek" not being installed and the XBMC setting chosen to WASAPI
4. reciever is a big one and just today bought a bluray player just to make sure it can play dts HD and so on, and it can.

But is it just me but the HDMI should say supported formats: DTS HD and so on to support them right?

To me it seems like a driver / mainboard / HDMI malfunction

That is very strange then.

My brother-in-law is actually having pretty much the same problem as you. In his case, he can play normal DTS and AC-3 over HDMI, but he also seems to be battling to play HD Audio.

I haven't had a chance to go and look at his system first hand and see if I can sort it out.

I have to admit, it does sound like a low level driver problem in your case.

Ok, so IMEI driver is installed.

Going back to post#11 and your other Driver Manager screenshot showing the audio drivers, you have 2 entries for Intel Display Audio. First of all there should only be 1 entry and secondly 1 of the entries has an exclamation mark, this means there's an error with the device.

Since I can't be sure what your PC is using, try removing both of the device entries and then reinstall the Intel Graphics Drivers.

Refer to http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/171469...river.html

Follow Option 2 and choose Step 9 to remove both device & drivers.

Hi

Back to SQUARE 1!!!!!

So i uninstalled the drivers. I uninstalled the Intel mangement interface.

I installed the newest version i could find of imei. And it still doesn´t work although now the SPDIF doesn´t think it can play loosless anymore....

also tried all of this in win 8.1 but still no difference.

In the pic you can see that the Windows 7 thinks that the Reciever is a TV screen? and i obviously have 2 HDMI ports?. I only have 1 but what do you expect from asrock crap. Grrrr loosing my mind here..........
Hmm seems like the drivers are from 2010. isn´t that some old drivers?

Sorry to read all your problems. I haven't been in here for a very long time. I'm a little rusty too. Have you did everything below?

1. Connects: HTPC-->Onkyo-->LEDTV via HDMI cables (you can set AVR to pass-thru video as LEDTV can handle this part very well)
2. Select the correct audio input in Onkyo HDMI configuration
3. Some LEDTV and AVR HDMI CEC options for ARC don't coexist very well, you can disable it for now
4. Install the latest Intel driver from here- Automatically identify and find drivers
5. Select Intel HDMI audio output in Windows 7 or 8 control panel/hardware and sound/sound/playback
6. Select audio exclusive mode in Windows 7 or 8 audio properties

You should see DTS-HD and TrueHD in Windows 7 or 8 audio properties. It works on both Windows 7 and Windows 8. I uses Microsoft Surface Pro with Widnows 8.1 in my theater room and Windows 7 in my master bedroom. Both Windows can bitstreams HD audio flawless, and I'm using Onkyo RC270 in the master bedroom and NR809 in the theater room.....

Here is a screenshot from my Surface Pro. It's Windows 8.1, Intel HD4000 iGPU and connected to Onkyo RC270. It should show up as NR5010 in your configuration.....

I played a little around with the drivers so now it can detect my reciever. but i still have the same problem. Now there is only 1 HDMI (TX-NR5010) but it only can play DTS, dolby and NO HD formats :-(

The only other thing I can think of is to check all your HDMI settings on the AVR.

Try setting anything related to HDMI audio out and HDMI CEC/Control to off, so for Onkyo these are normally:

Audio TV Out - Off
HDMI Control (RIHD) - Off
Power Control - Off
TV Control - Off

It seems that you are still having issue with HDCP. It can be both hardware and software related. Do you have another HDMI cable to try? You can try connecting it to another HDMI output behind the Onkyo too.

If all the above don't work, you can try to install the 21 days trial version of this "AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD", and be sure to reboot your PC afterward. You have a very powerful PC and receiver. There is no reason for DTS-HD and TrueHD not to work.

Another quick look at your photo again. It seems that you might have installed HD audio driver from AsRock. If you do, you can un-install it for now. You can install the latest Intel driver directly from their link in my post #20.....

It could very well be the asrock drivers that is bothering me, every time i uninstall the driver it just install it self again upon restart and you cant seem to delete it anywhere?

hmm is the driver composed of 2 Intel R sound drivers? 1 with the actual driver, and 1 with the actual recoding / way to handle the multi signal?

Go to Control panel>hardware and sound>device manager. Go to sound and expand then uninstall Realtek.

You must uninstall the Realtek drivers first, then restart the computer and disable the onboard sound in the system setup. If you disable the device before uninstalling the drivers you might get an error.

After you done the above, you might want to reinstall Intel driver directly from Intel website. Since you are bitstreaming audio codecs to AVR, you don't need any other audio driver other than Intel driver....

You can try this "Guru3D - Driver Sweeper" to clean the driver too.

This is as far as i have gotten. I uninstalled all drivers related to INTEL and REALTEK. I installed only INTEL drivers but first it came up with a high def sound with a driver from 2010. That driver can basicly do the same as the picture shows. I have tried with a intel R sound driver, and the same result. i Have tried to let intel decide what is best but it shows nothing beyond what i already have.

I´m ready to SHOOT someone having used pretty much 4 days now getting this s*** to work.

I know I´m not suppose to install the realtek but isn´t that the codec that makes it possible? from what i can read about my mainboard?

I have installed the HD-DVD but ehm what am i suppose to use that 4? It doesn´t help my problem atm. I think my reciver is potent enough but Do i dare ask if my mainboard is because it doesn´t seem like it

I used to have AsRock mobo too, and it was a pain to get it to bitstream HD audio to my Onkyo AVR. Don't get confuse by this note "7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek ALC898 Audio Codec)" in AsRock spec. If you want your HTPC to decode audio codecs, then you need to install Realtek. For bitstreaming HD audio to AVR, you need Intel driver.

At this point, you might want to contact AsRock for help. You might have a defected motherboard....

If you have issue with HDCP, AnyDVD HD-DVD should help. The motherboard itself might be the bottleneck here....
