I have 2 USB IR receivers that came with remotes that I have used in the past and I want to see if I can reuse them with a Harmony 650. The receivers show up as USB composite devices in windows and as keyboard emulators. Is there a way to change the driver for the receivers to be able to detect universal IR commands? Or do I need to just break down and buy a universal one? If so any recommendations?
Thanks.

MCE Receivers work great in windows and with harmony remotes. But if you can find the manufacture and model number of your ir receivers you should be able to get your harmony remote to work with them. If your gonna buy a new IR receiver I suggest either a HP mce receiver or flirc.

I tried the SANOXY. No Joy. I took apart the one IR to see if there was a brand on them with the same results.

Most harmonies have a learning feature. I have two of the cheapest harmonies ever , the 200 model(got for twenty dollars each at wall-mart) and they can learn commands. So assuming yours does to and you have the original remotes , just go into the harmony software and click something like fix command and it should give you instructions for teaching your harmony the buttons from your original remotes.

I do have the original remotes. Thanks for the suggestion on the learning ability. I will figure out if the 650 does that.

Thanks for all of the help. Between the harmony learning capability and customizing my keymap with LM remote keymap. I am headed in the right direction.
