Bug - can not watch NRK in Norway after latest upgrade
#1
Visit ->>> http://tv.nrk.no/innstillinger
to get direct link for watching NRK

With Debian Linux and

xbmc 4:13.0~alpha9-dmo1 all
xbmc-bin 4:13.0~alpha9-dmo1 i386
xbmc-data 4:13.0~alpha9-dmo1 all

I could watch NRK in Norway.

After upgrade to

xbmc 4:13.0~alpha10-dmo2 all
xbmc-bin 4:13.0~alpha10-dmo2 i386
xbmc-data 4:13.0~alpha10-dmo2 all

I got the sound but there is no video anymore.
Sound with a black screen. The xbmc log contained
a line that may be of interest.

ERROR: VAAPI - unable to initialize display -1 - unknown libva error

Things got back to normal after a downgrade.

the error says it all, there is a problem with your vaapi or intel driver

The old version did work well. Including the latest version of vlc.

As mention before, it is debian system.

To my /etc/apt/sources.list I have added
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org sid main non-free

To have it installed I simply do

apt-get update
apt-get install xbmc

Up to recently it has been working very well.

I believe the log should be of interest ->

pastebinit -i .xbmc/temp/xbmc.log

well yes, again a debian user that has issues due to using external libraries.
All I can says is, it got nothing to do with vaapi, since you have an nvidia card.

There must be a difference. There must be a bug unless
some new features break the usage of the "old" libraries.

The old version is working well. Expect for the purpose
testing the latest version would be useless until this is
sorted out.

Is there any specific libraries that could be the problem ?
Upgrade and downgrade is'nt that difficult.

You're simply not supposed to use the Debian repositories to get XBMC.

I did put forward a problem. I put forward a question.
The libraries used by xbmc may need an upgrade. Is any
I should pay close attention to ?

The thing is Debian prefers to use external libraries instead of the ones that XBMC ship with. There is obviously a reason why XBMC ships with copies of certain libraries, which is why you get unexpected breakage if you use the Debian packages.
