Win Whats the best way to turn on a HTPC with a remote?
#1
Information
So i built my own HTPC last year primarily for XBMC, i was just wondering what would be the best solution for me to be able to turn my HTPC on via a remote. Bearing in mind that my HTPC is kept in a media cabinet so cannot receive IR commands directly. I am currently using Pulse Eights CEC USB adapter in conjunction with my TVs remote which is a LG 47LM670T this works fine for navigating menus and such although some buttons aren't mapped like the info button or context menu but for general browsing it works ok, however it doesn't pass my fiancés ease of use test when it comes to turning it on so im looking for another solution. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

A quick breakdown of my setup.

TV LG 47LM670T -> AVR Samsung HT-D6750w -> HTPC Asus F2A85-M Pro, AMD A10-5700, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD

I would like a one button solution i.e Power Button powers on all three devices thanks.

Wake on LAN with a mobile app remote control such as the official remote or Yatse for Android.
However it looks like your Motherboard does not support WAKE on LAN.
You could pickup a stand alone nic that supports wake on lan.

Something like this.

I used this

to be able to turn on my htpc via remote and then just set up a activity on my harmony remote, turns it all on with one button.
