Apple TV and Mac
#1
I am just setting up XBMC on my Apple TV and Mac, and I am a bit confused. Everything works perfectly on my mac, on the Apple TV however, I can gain access to all the movies, but it is not showing up the same way as on my Mac. On the mac, I added movies and tv shows from a hard drive, the scrapper went through, did its thing, and I now see on my main menu, "Movies" and "TV Shows". On the Apple TV, however, I have to navigate to Videos>Files then choose my source. (which is UPnP)

Is there anyway to get the Apple TV to show "Movies" and "TV Shows" like it does on my computer? Is this because the files are not local on the Apple TV?

Double check the scraper settings: adding videos to the library (wiki)

Tried looking into this and still cant figure it out. Here are some images to show what I mean.

On my computer Movies and TV Shows are both options right on the main nav bar:

On Apple TV they are not:

Some more info on my setup...
I have an external hard drive on the iMac that stores all the media. I loaded all that into XBMC on the mac, and everything there is fine. On Apple TV I went to Videos>Files>Add Videos and added UPnP from the iMac's XBMC. I have access to all the videos on Apple Tv, but its organized like Im browsing through computer files. I just see a bunch of folders which have the videos in them.

Any help to get the Apple TV to display just like the iMac would be much appreciated!

Oooh, I understand now.

Try this, go to

Videos -> Files -> the Mac's UPnP entry -> Video library -> Movies (or TV Shows) -> Titles

That should bring you directly to the typical library view.

You can quickly access them by either using Favorites (wiki) on the UPnP window you want, or by adding two sources, one for Movies and one for TV shows, that goes directly to their respective "Titles" window.

Also, to make those entries show up on the Main Menu of the ATV, set them as favorites and then use a skin that allows custom home items, like Confluence Modified: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=145080

To explain, you're basically "faking" the normal TV Shows and Movie buttons, since the library is coming from another XBMC install.

In the future this will be a lot more automatic :)
