No member of video and not of audio: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/rNQyz9kmcq/

BUT the kodi.log you are posting shows that this is running as "kodi" user while the above is done by "mau" - so most likely not related

/home/kodi/.kodi/temp//kodi.log

The log is full with decoding errors, and as 17.6 is out of support anyways -> upgrade to 18-rc5 and post another log

Make sure to set the device to: GSM W2753VC on HDMI
Disable Passthrough

And now:
Set Audio to Fixed and Samplerate to 48000 hz and speakers to 2.0

If this does not work, post the output of: amixer

Edit: I hope you pressed "+" / "-" several times on your remote already to see that it is not muted ...

kodi already has access to audio

kodi@ubuntu1:~$ id
uid=1006(kodi) gid=1006(kodi) groups=1006(kodi),5(tty),20(dialout),24(cdrom),29(audio),30(dip),44(video),46(plugdev),100(users),147(input)

<fvolumelevel>0.577777</fvolumelevel>

max it to 1.0 - but I really think this is not the problem.

How did you verify that root audio works? With kodi or from command-line with aplay?

it seems now it's working for the default sink (headphones jack) but not for HDMI output - but this is the same for root and kodi so I can live with this for some time Smile
the only thing i did was a
rm -rf /home/kodi/.config/pulse/
but it still uses ALSA and not pulseaudio so I don't really know what fixed the jack audio...maybe it was always working as I was checking it via hdmi...don't know for sure
thank you for all your help, fritsch !!!
