I found the APK for the old version of XBMC Remote, but it has compatibility issues with 12.2. This was to install on a Kindle Fire without rooting it, which worked fine. Is it possible to download the latest version of the app in APK form so I can install it on my the Fire?

This works just fine on the Kindle and you don't need to root it; just enable unofficial 3rd party apps.
