Music output very flat need to enable a eq is this possible?

Hi guys, long time lover of xbmc! Running latest version on a windows 7 ion based htpc, hdmi to a yamaha amp , out to a pair of NS777 yamaha speakers and a strong amp / sub.

Movies etc are perfect but music output is very very flat compared to the "smiley face" EQ i prefer for my music listening.

I can't seem to find a way to do EQ within xbmc.

Listening to same music within iTunes with my EQ set, it sounds awesome (especially on such a ballsy system ) , but I loathe to use anything other than xbmc

Anyone have any suggestions how I may be able to do this, easily ?

You can do this on the Windows level for all audio output. That would be the ideal solution, because then it won't matter what app you use.

Try setting "Audio output device" to Directsound setting so music is routed through Windows then try out something like AC3Filter which I think may do what you want, see http://www.ac3filter.net/wiki/AC3Filter:Equalizer_page

My ion doesn't have sound card eq so found this and it totally rocks ;

http://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/

Also a GUI front end for it (though I wrote my own config file) : http://linge-ma.ws

Have batch file for various EQmodes so can flick between different presets I out together (usually turning bass down at night). (Pinned to start menu)

Only relevant for PCM streams from xbmc (in my setup anyway) because do,by and DTS are passed straight to the amp ,,, which is ok I was only music and non DTS content I was finding to be too flat.
