Does xbmc have a setting that will allow for the playing of sound on a FastForward or Rewind operation? In other words, when playing 2x forward, how can I also hear the audio 2x as fast? Mplayer does this by default for example.

No and if you look at the thread on "Feature Suggestions" the whole idea seems to be radioactive for some reason.
