Linux What is "XBMC from Debian"?
#1
In short "XBMC from Debian" is the name for the package shipped by Debian maintained at http://packages.qa.debian.org/x/xbmc.html .
It is based on official XBMC releases, but there may be differences in the libraries and helper programs used and it can also use custom, mostly back-ported patches.

Bugs should be reported to http://www.debian.org/Bugs/ .
Open bugs are listed at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport...o&src=xbmc .

A more detailed explanation can be read at: http://balintreczey.hu/blog/introducing-...om-debian/

Quote:The most notable difference between XBMC and “XBMC from Debian” is that XBMC uses
its embedded patched FFmpeg, while “XBMC from Debian” uses libav.

Maybe we should completely remove that option. No dev tests nor supports this. Why ruin a media player by switching one of its most important libs?

EDIT: have fun with Gotham an libav. Our new audio engine uses swresample. Nobody has ever looked into the wrapper for libav.

I have packaged Gotham and it works fine with Libav 10.
I have also set up a separate repository for the package using internal FFmpeg which is tested by the XBMC Team. Please see details at: XBMC 13.0 Gotham entered Debian
