Win Audio not playing AAC in XBMC
#1
Hello!

I'm quite new to this forum, but I have spend lots of time trying to figure out what I might do wrong before I post here.

I have a normal computer (Asus), and a Grundig TV connected to a Sonos system. When I play sounds with Dolby Digital or DTS I have no problems at all, but when I play a movie (whatever format) with AAC audio, I can't connect the sound to the TV. The sounds plays on my computer, and it plays on the TV when I play it in VLC.

I have tried to put back to basic Audio Settings (Analog/2.0), tried HDMI, tried to disable all stero outputs and tried one and one, but still it's not forwarding audio to the TV.

On properties on my TV (Grundig WUXGA) it says it supports Dolby Digital and 2 channels.

Anyone that could come up with a suggestion? I'm aware that I mightnot provide sufficient information, but given my technical knowledge I'm not sure what kind of information that would be useful.

Any support would be greatly appreciated...I've ran out of ideas Sad

Best regards,
Ricard

Which version of XBMC? Check if AAC capable AVR option is enabled and disable it.

Hello, and thanks for answer!

It's 12.2 ( Frodo). Do you mean in Settings - system - audio? I've unabled all options, inlcuding that one (and tried one by one enabled) won't help

Can you post a screenshot of your XBMC audio settings and a debug log of you playing something, see log_file (wiki) for how to do the log file.

The audio stream seems to be started ok going by the log, have you checked you haven't got the volume in XBMC turned down, try pressing + on keyboard to ensure the volume is at max.

Hello again and thank you for your answer. When I ran the debug log I wasn't connected to the TV. I've added a new log here, while connected to the TV - don't know if that makes any difference?

The problem is not the volume. The movie sounds on my computer, and on my tv if i run it through VLC. It goes for all AAC files. It seems XBMC can't stream that sound to my tv?

You are connecting to the TV by HDMI right? If so then no HDMI device is listed in that log, that suggests to me that you are connecting to the TV while XBMC is already running, if so this indeed won't work.

XBMC does not support hot plugging of audio devices, connections must be made and connected device switched on before XBMC is started as the audio devices available on the system are only detected at startup.
