[FIXED] - XBMC crashes when attempting to play uPNP video
#1
Greetings. When I attempt to Watch Live TV from Videos -> Files -> uPNP source from my HDHomeRun Prime on my 1st Gen Google Nexus 7, XBMC displays a "Working" icon and then exits, stating "Unfortunately, XBMC has stopped." I can reproduce the issue on two 1st Gen Google Nexus 7 devices. The error does not occur on Samsung Galaxy S4.

xbmc.log.old have been uploaded. (No information is in the xbmc.log since the application crashes.)

Here are some xbmc.log.old instances from the Google Nexus 7 tablets with logging set to debug.

@ned Scott: SendLog has no permission to read logs (actual application message). Device is not rooted, so that app will not work. Can you provide me the full path of the system log and I can scp it off of the tablet? Otherwise, I am in the process of downloading the SDK (its taking a while). I will attempt to use the alt procedure to provide the requested logs.

Sorry, off hand I don't know the full path.

The standalone version of DDMS is deprecated.
Please use Android Device Monitor (monitor.bat) instead.

I tried pulling logs from both DDMS and Android Debug Monitor, but the device does not appear under the device list in either tool when connected to a PC via a USB cable.

Logs have been exported via ddms.bat utility:

3 attempts were made to watch video via uPNP between 21:29 and 21:31.

Thanks for the crash logs.
I'll forward this to the MediaCodec thread, as it is where it crashes.

Did you try disabling MediaCodec in Settings-Video-Player?

12-31 21:29:56.545: E/ACodec(2149): [OMX.Nvidia.mpeg2v.decode] configureCodec returning error -1010

looks like there is some issue handling mpeg2 on nividia. Since I have the same device, I'd like a 50-100 MB sample please.

@Koying: XBMC does not crash with MediaCodec disabled in the "Advanced" Video Playback Settings.

@davilla: This was a uPNP stream coming from a Silicondust HDHomeRun Prime w/ CableCard, so I am not sure how to obtain a sample of live television.

I don't know if it will help in this situation, but you can grab content using the HTTP API: http://www.silicondust.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?t=13625

Here is a small sample that was collected using the procedure listed above.

Happy to report that the issue has been resolved. I have downloaded the latest nightly and XBMC no longer crashes.
