If you're thinking of setting up a public server for everyone to use you can forget it, it would cost in the order of thousands of dollars. Is this for your own use only? If so you just need a satellite tuner and software such as tvheadend, after that you can stream your TV to any device you want, even over the internet.

Probably better to set up mythtv or tvheadend or vdr and get pvr capabilities though.

And don't share outside your own house.

Go to the tvheadend website and click download. Then follow your nose.

Now was that so hard?

There's a clue immediately above the command you quote above from the tvheadend website:

Quote:If you had previously added the launchpad PPA, please be sure to remove it (as it no longer exists)

Code:
sudo apt-add-repository -r http://ppa.launchpad.net/adamsutton/tvheadend
