Isn´t it possible to make it easier to use a centralized library than having to set up an MySQL-server?

Wouldn´t it be possible to just choose path for the library in xbmc and just have it on a NAS-server och whatever? I mean... There is no need for an MySQL-server on a local instance of XBMC. I´m in no way an expert on these things but to me it seems like it should work and still be able to have an updated library resume playing from another instance of XBMC.

You are discounting file system contention, file locking and other file integrity risks by avoiding a platform (MySQL) that is designed to manage those kinds of events/risks.

Same risks as when trying to edit a Word document on two computers simultaneously - it just won't work.

A full replacement to MySQL for library sharing is in the works for the future :)

It will be much easier.
