Newbie... Do mce add xbmc work concurrently on a server setup
#1
I have a working mce setup with 2 ceton infinite eth tuners. I want to start experimenting with xbmc but I want to make sure it allows mce to record normally and my extenders to connect normally. In other words does xbmc and WMD play nice when on the same machine

Yes. WMC is basically a front end that schedules recordings using the windows recording service that runs in the background. Serverwmc does the same thing. So recordings you schedule with swmc are seen in wmc and vice versa. The only thing you have to watch out for is live-tv streams, wmc and swmc will compete for those. In other words if wmc has a tuners tied up for live tv, swmc won't be able to grab then for same. If swmc has all the tuners tied up for live tv, wmc will ask if you want to take the tuner away from the 'other' program. Importantly though, both wmc and swmc give priority to scheduled recordings. Swmc just kills its live stream if the tuner is needed for a recording. And you probably know what wmc does.
Windows Media Center PVR addon (pvr.wmc) and server backend (ServerWMC)
