Price at USD $184.77 shipped,
This little guy here looks really interesting for an XBMC (openELEC) box.

ImageImage
CPU/GPU: Celeron 1037U (2x1.8GHz)
RAM: 2G
SSD: 8G
WIFI: YES
FANLESS: YES
link to product --> http://goo.gl/bvdHbh

and here's a review on the openELEC forum --> http://www.openelec.tv/forum/41-supporte...-in-1037ua

i think of it like this,
its Cheaper then a NUC and a BRiX but pricier then an OUYA,,,,
However, compared to the OUYA,
its way more powerful and audio passthrough should work just fine with openELEC
including all video addons (example, xbmckaraoke addon doesn't work properly on OUYA)
and its completely silent/fanless!!

here's an unboxing video but note that its not the same CPU inside,
its an ATOM N2800 but it still gives you an idea about the item http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N-3ykz2MzU

I have one (from a different supplier on aliexpress) and love it. I just ordered second one last week!

I thought the price was much better than a NUC and more power than the Pi it replaced. It was the sweet spot in price performance I was looking for.

Here's the one I bought:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/IVB-platf...36998.html

It's USD $143 shipped (plus an extra CAD $15 in DHL fees and $5 tax for the Canadian government). No memory, SSD or wifi with this one.

I'm currently running OE off a USB 3.0 drive and that works great. I'm going to put a faster mSata SSD in it later.

Hi!

I also have one of those boxes. Using a cheap 32gb msata inside it with an external usb ir receiver. 2gb of ram..

Runs Aeon nox swiftly. The only slight slow down I see is if I am playing music then press back, You can see the wall of albums refreshing. It can take upto 2 seconds to completely refresh.
However, the wall refreshes instantly if I'm at the start of my music or in some other places
I'm using a centralized sql db and I wonder if that has something to do with it? It's always the same albums which refresh on the wall last..

Anyways, it's very smooth otherwise. Totally silent.. I have it always on as the suspend doesn't work, (suspends then restarts instantly) at least it doesn't under openelec - not tried anything else on it.

I had to pay tax on it (I'm in the UK) as customs stopped it...

I'll try and remember to do a video on youtube tonight...

Is there anywhere you can buy these affordable htpcs in the US? I ask not because of the shipping fee (I see some of them have free shipping) but instead because of how long it takes for them to get here. Thank you.

I have some of these but in the silver case: http://iwill.en.alibaba.com/product/1599..._LVDS.html

The difference is these have an internal IR receiver and 4GB RAM. You can install a regular 2.5" SSD right on the motherboard. It doesn't use mSATA.

They won't be as cheap as getting them directly from China since it's coming from the USA though.

Thanks much for the reply. I will check it out/price compare with the Intel Nuc.

How much was the tax? Is it simple enough to replace the power cables for UK ones? Cheers.

I own one, very fast little bugger, cost me only $125 shipped to the us (was 15% off when I purchased) barebones, threw in 2gb ram and a used toshiba 30gb msata drive.

VAT on UK imports is 20%. For PCs and the like there's no duty, just the VAT. Sometimes they'll charge you VAT, sometimes they won't. It's luck of the draw. The shipper will also charge a small fee to collect the VAT.

For cables, there is a mains lead between the AC adapter and the wall. That's all that needs to be changed if they don't ship it with a UK mains lead.

thanks for your recommendation, bought 1 for my bro-in-law. love it. super quiet, runs cool and plays everything. i paid $237 for 32GB SSD, 4GB RAM and FedEx. Installed XBMC on Win 7x64. here is a video i made http://youtu.be/drrqf3DiWc0

though recently i bought another one based on intel 3337u. more powerful and futureproof.
