Openelec: Loud buzzz after AC3
#1
I use Openelec (official) Version: 3.2.4 from 24 Nov 2013

When I play one AC3 audio file:
Code:
AC-3
Audio Coding 3
CM (complete main)
Big
Constant
448 Kbps
6 channels
Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
48.0 KHz
16 bits
Lossy
then I play one PCM or FLAC multichannel audio file like:
Code:
FLAC
Free Lossless Audio Codec
Variable
5 837 Kbps
6 channels
Front: L C R, Back: L R, LFE
88.2 KHz
24 bits
libFLAC 1.1.4 (UTC 2007-02-13)
I get a loud BUZZZZ from 1 channel, other are playing correctly the music. The BUZZZ channel could be any of my 5 channels randomly.
If you want to try I can provide the link to the files.

Did you come across this bug?

Not seen this. What's the make/model of TV/receiver?
I assume you have AC3 passthrough enabled? Does the problem occur with it disabled?

I have a Denon AVR-2313 no TV (see signature)

When AC3 passthrough enabled => BUZZ
When AC3 passthrough disabled => OK

Just would like to add that the buzz is not present 100% of the time I play AC3 then PCM/FLAC but about 60/70% I have the buzz.

My guess is that I won't reproduce this with a different make of receiver, as I'd imagine we are not outputting the buzz sound, but the receiver has got confused when switching.

Can you try switching the receiver to a different input and back, or power cycle it when it is buzzing to see if it stops?

But, we've got a few makes of receiver here (no Denon though). If you send a link to the files I can test it on them.

Link to the files:
Bjørn Lynne
AC3 and WMA Pro:
5.1 Surround Test File
"Voyager" - 5.1 mix

I did a new test:

Played AC3 (Voyager) then WMA (Voyager) and had the buzz;
- Disconnect HDMI connector, waited 5s then connected back => buzz
- Switch off the AVR then switch on => buzz
- Change the HDMI input from Media Player to DVD and back => buzz
=> the buzz was always present until the end. I had to stop playing the file to stop the buzz.
I don't have a second device with HDMI, I can't test whether the buzz is from the Pi or not.

Other test to do?

I'll test linked files (probably at weekend). You could try a recent gotham build which handles audio rather differently.
