LSU jonno,

I tested it with a clean XBMC install. So I used the confluence skin during these tests.

I can add and open SMB shares in both the Music and Video section without a problem.

It's seems very specific for the LiveTV section and only for Win32 nightlies, as Android nightlies and OpenELEC nightlies based on the latest gotham source do not have this bug.

**EDIT**:

@scarecrow:

Good to see you pinpointed the problem.

That was the kind of discussions I really like to see on bugs, collaboration and discussion of the issue at hand. I understand why they made the change, I've been down that rat hole before however it was kind of inconvenient how it changed without warning.

Great work scarecrow! Its now ancient history, but I thought I tried smb paths originally and found they didn't work for windows so I had to treat windows as a special case using unc. A lot has changed since then so who knows anymore. We can make the next rev of swmc send smb paths if thats what the xbmc team prefers. I hope this change is everywhere or channel icons won't work either.

I fixed swmc to use smb paths for windows clients and it works with the new gotham, for both local and remote setups. I then reverted back to frodo and it works there too. So for those paying attention, this debacle was really my fault for not using smb paths in windows from the beginning - so best not pay attention.

I will get a fixed version of swmc out either today or tomorrow.

Thanks for the community effort in getting this solved, especially to Ian and ijourneaux who got us looking at gotham and staying on top of it..

EDIT:
channel icons work too, on both.

Nice work! Thank You. When you release, is it automatically pulled in the latest nightly? Day behind?

I could be wrong but I think the change is in the server (swmc) and not client so it won't be in any nightlys
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.

Yes, you are right, ultimately it delivers the url. Not sure what I was thinking. Back to get more coffee!

A side note on this that I discovered: when you have a gotham build installed and then want to go back to frodo: the pvr.wmc that you got with gotham is left in the xbmc install folder even though frodo has been installed. It needs to be deleted to get xbmc-frodo to work with the frodo pvr.wmc hand installed in user addon folder.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm rockin' and rollin' with this new SWMC. I've never experience stability like this with XBMC PVR and any backend. Life is good. Krusty/Scarecrow, do you guys have a donation button?
