Ok, so I successfully got the backend installed on my windows 7 box, it was cake compared to other backends. My openelec frodo 12.2, I believe, machine recognizes the connection and downloads the correct channel names/numbers but when I attempt to play any of them it buffers and then I get nothing. Here is relevent log for the backend.

Let me know if I need to post anything else.

Check out the ServerWMC wiki (linked in the sticky threads in this forum) as it seems like you havent completed the required setup for remote clients - you need to setup a share of the Recorded TV folder on your backend PC and make sure the username and password (of a user on that backend PC with access to this share) is specified, so that remote clients can get at the files

Currently this is the path being sent to the openelec client and the openelec client reports that it cannot open the path

smb://nstern2:@NSTERN2-PC/Users/Public/Recorded TV/

So from this it seem you have a user called nstern2 with no password, the PC name is NSTERN2-PC, and you need to share the "C:\Users" folder as "Users". Or you could change things around (eg just share C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV as "Recorded TV" then change the share path to be "\\NSTERN2-PC\Recorded TV" in the ServerWMC GUI). Assuming the user/password details are correct, you should be good to go then.

Check the Wiki for more complete instructions

What scarecrow said. But you don't have to share the upper 'users' folder, I would just share the 'recorded tv' inside it. Share with 'everybody' given read access.

Yeah that was my problem. Apparently enabling the public user is not enough, as I also had to enable passwordless sharing. I suppose giving my user an actual password instead of a blank one would have also solved the issue. I'm now running into some problems with it stuttering every few seconds, but that's probably due to me running my box off of wifi., and I can troubleshoot that. Thanks for the help guys, great PVR setup! If there is a way for me to donate some dogecoin to the cause let me know!
