Since I haven't used those brand fans, I cannot comment on them. I have used Akasa CPU coolers and they are fine. You will have to try those fans or find someone in the EU that has used them.

As for the E-i5 case, no you cannot fit a 3.5" HDD in that case.

As for the remote, it's a function of the IR receiver itself. I am not sure what options you have in the EU for adding a special IR receiver that can turn the PC on from off.

I looked at one of your posts on the avsforum and found out that you used a motherboard able to wake from off state using an IR receiver.
Also using Haswell compatible motherboard reduces the heat within the case, so if I adapt my configuration to what I saw, it may do something like :

€ 76,77 - Inter-Tech Mini ITX E-i7 84W
€ 65,58 - ASUS H81T Sockel 1150 M-ITX
€ 50,74 - Intel Pentium G3220
€ 4,05 - Arctic MX-2 Thermic paste 4gr.
€ 11,69 - Akasa AK-CCE-7106HP Low Profile
€ 33,46 - Memory DDR3 Crucial, 4 Go, PC3-12800, CAS 11
€ 12.80 - (2 pieces) Akasa Ultra Quiet Amber Series
€ 24,42 - RII i25

So 279,51 € in total (without shipping)

But in your thread (and on your website) I see that you were able to add an IR receiver to your case (which seems identical to mine)...
What hardware did you use for that mod ?
Is it hard to perform ?

It is an IR receiver that I worked with a manufacturer in China to modify and import. The front power button switch lead is run through the IR receiver so that the IR receiver can also act as a power switch as long as the IR receiver has power so it can receive the signal from the remote.

If I understand, it's done the easiest thing to do...
I assume the best way to switch it on with a remote will be to put my motherboard in sleep instead of switching it off.

Concerning your testing with the haswell hardware, is it a big added value in terms of performances, heat producing and so ?

Yes, or just leave it on. If you get a Haswell i3, the C7 sleep state uses very little power. In my numbers in the other thread, it was 1.4W for sleep, 9.8W for idle after not touching the PC for a while. I don't sleep my HTPCs because they seems to always have some screwed up resolution when they wake up, don't wake up to record, wake up for seemingly no reason at all, etc. But, give it a try your experience might be different.

Performance for HTPC is already overkill since it doesn't take much. Picture quality to my eye was very good. The Haswell i3's idle state uses very little power and even at full load it was 54W. The real win with Haswell is power usage and heat.

Hi,

I am also in Belgium. And i am also looking a media center.
For the motherboard check this http://www.materiel.net/carte-mere-mini-...00405.html

It's motherbord with a fanless (10w tdp) processor.
So no fan, no noise.

I would take a look at this motherboard: http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00159192.html

I wish we could get that motherboard here.
