Is it possible to browse the web with xbmc?

Is so, how?

We haven't incorporated a web browser. It's always been on the list of things to do, but no one has stepped up yet.

It was a Google Summer of Code proposed project a while back but didn't materialize into anything unfortunately.

I always wanted to show Last.fm chart data in XBMC but I guess an add-on would work just as well.

Have addon for it

Browse Forums in XBMC. Supports Tapatalk enabled forums (over 30000) and Forumrunner enabled forums. Also supports boxee.tv. View forums, threads, posts, subscriptions and private messages. Follow links in Web Viewer. Post replies, send private messages, delete posts, quote posts. View images in posts, follow post forum links and download post links.

Tried it but didn't like the experience.

There is an addon that launches chrome: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=170965 which might be a solution for your use-case.

for windows there are AFAIK some addons out in the wild that embedd Firefox or IE. Think I read about it on some german XBMC site. It's basically the leftover from their Netflix/Maxdome/Lovefilm web wrapper to have silverlight within XBMC which they turned into a standalone browser.
