Will this work?

I have a dell optiplex GX270 USFF. I think it has somewhere around a 3.0Ghz P4 and 3GB ram. I plan on adding a graphics card for hardware decoding and a sound card for 7.1 audio since my receiver doesn't have hdmi. If it does work will I be limited to h.264/x264 video or will it be able to play the stuff in my library thats still xvid?

These are what i'm planning on adding:

The setup with the CPU and graphics card will be fine. Can't comment on the sound card.

Thanks. I just tried the XBMCbuntu distro from USB and it seemed to work as well as my original xbox. Although what i'm still worried about is being able to play high definition video that isn't encoded in h.264/x264.

What HD video codecs are you referring to? VC1?

Mostly xvid. Is there a way to hardware decode xvid?
