Release ESPN 3 Fork
#91
(2014-10-05, 06:29)locomot1f Wrote: @MetalChris and / or @ Lunatix,

can you put this url in your browser, and copy / paste the xml results.
https://espn-ws.bamnetworks.com/pubajaxw...d=domestic

should look something like this:
http://pastebin.com/Np3wYumv

I've tried various live streams and replays, but none would work. Always get the 'One or more items failed to play' error.

I've followed instructions to update librtmp from this page:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...te_librtmp

I've no access to a Win machine at the moment, but I've tried on my Hackintosh and get no streams that way either.

When I paste the link you provided in my browser, all I get is this:

Code:
<user-verified-media-response>
<status-code>-3000</status-code>
</user-verified-media-response>

Not looking very promising Sad

no, it's not. Undecided

this was the error we were getting when the site is trying to authenticate through ISP's.

I appreciate your time and effort locomot1f, but there was no problem with the addon. Apparently, some changes I made to the firewall settings on my cable modem were preventing the streams from starting. Reverting to my previous firewall settings fixed the issues I was having.

It is odd though, since I initially made those changes almost 2 weeks ago and the addon didn't stop working until yesterday. And I still get the same 'status code 3000' response when I follow the link you provided. Huh

Anyway, I am once again able to watch both live streams and replays in Linux with either Gotham or Frodo. Cool

I can also confirm this addon is working on my Hackintosh running Gotham, as well as WinXP running Gotham.

Big thanks to both you and Romans for keeping this addon going!!

Hey ! locomot1f, i'm unnable to watch espn3 with your plugin after the upgrade. In the past i did the trick, setting the affliliateid and the swid. At this moment i can succesfully watch using the web browser (mozilla) and i authenticate with a DISH account. When the configuration worked i used the comcast_sso affliliateid and the SWID that i get with the DIsh account.
Now i have the following error:

Is there suppose to be a Logon and a channels setting page in the Add-On Settings? I'm using OpenElec Generic.x86_64-4.2.1. All I have is Playback and Days as available settings to change. I tried uninstalling the plugin and deleting the items in ./Userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.espn_3/ and re-installing the plugin.

Thanks.

locomot1f stripped out the logon and channels settings since they were no longer functioning. You should try following the steps on this page to get the addon working. It worked for me, and I do not have Time Warner cable, only Time Warner internet. You can ignore some of step 5 since there is no longer any login or channel settings to configure.

jordy33, this may also work for you as well.

Damn. I'm not very good at debugging, so I can't really make heads or tails of what's going on in the log you've uploaded.

Just to be clear, are you specifying your affiliate id and swid in the default.py file? This was a suggested fix for the original addon, but never worked for me. I had to follow this link after logging in to watchespn.com and save it as my userdata.xml file, and then modify the affiliate id there. I also had to create a new account at watchespn.com for this version of the addon since I could not remember my login info from the first time. Not sure if that had anything to do with it working for me or not, but might be worth a try. Also, the userdata.xml file should be saved in all lower case (not userData.xml), no caps. The file should be saved in your xbmc/userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.espn_3 folder

Apparently it was not helpful. But I struggled with getting the original addon to work and creating and modifying the userdata.xml was the key for me. Maybe it can still be helpful for some users.

I have made a slight tweak to this version of the addon. The menus in this version display only the date for all events, while the original version of the addon displayed the start times for live and upcoming events. Knowing nothing about python, it took me an hour or so, but I was able to get the menus to display the start time without date for live events, the date and start time for upcoming events, and the date only for replays. I can upload or forward you a copy of my modifications if you'd like to incorporate them into this version of the addon.

Thanks again to you and Romans I XVI for taking over this addon. While I was still able to watch live events on the old version, replays did not work. With this version I am not only able to watch live events, but also replays of events I've missed, or was unable to catch live. Now I can keep up with my CFL games and college football any day of the week. Cool

@jordy33 -- partial logs don't really help. they don't show the whole picture.

Here's some screenshots of my menu modifications:

The Live Events menu with event start time:

The Replay Events menu with original air date:

The Upcoming Events menu with date and event start time:

I think these modifications make the menus a bit more user friendly. I'd be happy to share the extra code if anyone's interested.

Romans I XVI, locomot1f - your thoughts?

Looks good. Definitely share the code I can add the changes to my git repository and then possibly submit to official repos.

Romans I XVI - I sent you a PM with the code for my menu modifications.

Also, since this addon supports only ESPN3, I acquired some ESPN3 fanart and an icon which I modified to mimic the live, replay, and upcoming icons included with this addon.

The basic icon:

You can see the whole icon set and the fanart here, and download the set here.

Thanks again for keeping this addon going, keep up the good work!
