Assuming you meant Linux, and XBMC based on one of them, then linux is supported, whereas android isn't (yet) on a stable release - see captions for specialist subsections

Um yes thats it Linux...
Am looking at a XstreamTec box and they have both Android and Linux and I can't seem to work out what type I need...or really what the differences are...
Any help, greatly appreciated

the nice thing is, usually if you have the skills or time to learn, you can flash it back and forth to try both. the company should release an image/update file for both and give you the option of doing a "stock" reset which is basically a format and recreate using which ever image/file you specify.
Android is good if you need onboard processing for netflicks and a few other streaming options that are not available on linux currently, or you want access to other android apps on your tv. That being said, android will feel a bit more clunky, because of the way the apps interact with the os, and unless the box is powerful enough (3+ core, 2+gb ram at least) it wont make up for the non-optimized android xbmc builds that are currently available.
Linux is good because it will behave more like an appliance.. you turn it on, you see xbmc without having to deal with the os or get another app to start xbmc automatically like you need to on android. now, since everything is handled withing xbmc on the linux builds, you will be limited to the streaming apps you can use. for instance the netflicks addon will not work because silverlight is not available on linux, so unless you have an intermediary server that can re-transcode streaming sources (like playon server) that will be limiting.
if you play all local content, i would probably go with the linux builds. they will feel snappier, just work 99% of the time, and not have the overhead of the android stuff running in the background.
