Everyone of my albums that have musicbrainz id's, do not have genres associated with it:

Can anyone elaborate as to why?

Well I see your album "Captured" does have Genre assigned. From my quick test of Helix the album genre seems to come from the first file song genres - I don't see that MBID for album changes anything for me.
