Win XBMC Crash when PVR enabled
#1
Hi

I am running the Gotham Nightly from 2-15 and have had an issue that I haven't seen posted here yet. I am using the 0.2.39 client and 1126 server on a single Win7-64 PC with an AverMedia PCI dual tuner.

When I run the serverWMC (not in service mode), launch XBMC (with live TV disabled), enable live TV (and the pvr.wmc addon), everything appears to work great.

After this I close XBMC, and later relaunch XBMC (now with live TV, pvr.wmc enabled) and have the serverWMC still running, XBMC will come up and start to load the EPG and channel data andbefore it finishes, XBMC will hang and crash.

XBMC Log:

ServerWMC Log:

Thoughts? What else should I do to try and isolate the problem?

I can't see any error in the swmc log. Might be worth a try to reset the epg database in xbmc (see settings>livetv). If that doesn't work see if the problem happens with frodo, or a different nightly.

I reset the EPG and installed the Feb-08 nightly but still have the same problems. Interestingly, I installed the pvr client on a second win7 computer I have running and had no issues when connecting to the same server over my network. I then installed the nightly again on my HTPC to a new folder and ran it in portable mode. This also fixes my issue.

Perhaps it is a conflict with another plugin I have or something else got out of whack in XBMC because I have been installing nightlies overtop of each other?

I doubt we conflict with another addon, but if in your testing you find out we do please let us know which addon! I don't know enough about xbmc and doing nightly installs over each other to know whether it could cause a problem, but maybe.

There are 2 databases XBMC uses (EPG and TV i think they are called) did you try and reset both? You could also try your normal gotham install location but remove the userdata area (back it up if you dont want to lose it permanently) just to see if it was a data issue

So I spent some time digging into this, and it does seem that there was something in the userdata that was causing this crash. The problem seems to be in guisettings.xml of all places. I've uploaded it to pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/aGQhV6U3

I believe there is an issue with updating the video library on startup. Setting that flag to false makes the crash go away. Could there be a problem with the TVDB plugin scanning as the client loads recorded TV?

But it shouldn't do that, unless you added the recorded tv folder as a video library.
