@j1nx

I moved from Corey's Buildroot tree to yours and now wireless working great.
I'm absolutly clueless why I had that issue with Corey's Buildroot, I need to investigate a little bit more.

I only building now (and testing) for the previous Gbox model as I don't have the updated model.
I won't be sharing half ready images, when my build will be ready I will share it and also build an image for the updated model.

Thanks for ur reply mate.
Isn't this build u making for gbox with new wifi 8188etv?
Which old gbox model u testing the one with 8192cu wifi?
I have the same box ,wifi doesn't work using any linux build like j1nx,tlbb etc.
Pls let me know when build is ready to test it.
Appreciate it.
Thanks a lot.

Here my builds.

Use with care.

I'm not responsible to any damage or malfunction that may occure due to installing these images.

Be advised that more work and testing needed in order to get the builds optimize, I have no desire to do that.
Instead I plan to set the kernel defconfig to match TLBB.

Sources:
The builds are based on Corey's Buildroot (with proper changes from J1nx) and XBMC (unofficial v12.4) trees, and Linux kernel 2.6.34.14.
I didn't create a proper defconfig for the v2.3, I just quickly rebuild kernel with the proper modules.

Hi mate,
Thanks for the build ,I tested 2.3 build in my m3 box with new wifi, using network manager programs detects wifi ,when put password,it says incorrect encryption key and bring password input screen again .but right password input.
I putvpassword again, then same message incorrect encryption key .When I cancel and check it in system network ,it's connected .
Also addons doesn't work ,can install but stream doesn't work ,eg is filmon ,Hellenic TV I tried .i realised that wifi disconnect hence stream doesn't work .
I think Xbmc build u using from croniccorey which is same is mx linux rc2 is buggy, can u use tlbb 1.1.2 instead along with wifi drivers.
Or couldn't u just add drivers into tlbb 1.1 which is very stable. Appreciate ur help mate.
Also, local files from USB doesn't play,it seems more Xbmc 11.4 issue.
Most importantly, connecting wifi still not stable and even sometime though box connects to wifi, addons doesnt see internet hence doesnt work.
everything works fine when wired ethenet cable.wifi just drops out,in network status shows internet as busy .if u can guide me how to compile it,interested to do myself .
Cheers

As I already said before I can't do much more.
For the previous model (mine 2.2) it's working alright (from the quick time I've checked).

J1nx and the other developers (pretty long list) did great job getting kernel 2.6.34.14 and the wifi to where it is today.

I won't be trying to fix buggy wifi drivers if that's the cause to the issues.
I don't want to base the build on J1nx's Buildroot tree as it's focused on TLBB and my goal is to PR this to Corey's and to keep the builds easily updated.

The kernel defconfig of the device will be followed the TLBB's one, I don't know if this would help with the wifi.

And as I said I won't refuse a free device but don't put your hopes high.

@dhead,
Appreciate the work u are doing mate.
I am pretty sure wifi will work if use tlbb defconfig.
The use of network manager to manage wifi is somewhat buggy ,hence we see the issue .
When I tried croniccorey nightly build from same source in mx dualcore ,also I face same wifi dropout problem.
The old method of connecting to wifi through internet access within Xbmc works better.
Tlbb build 1.1.1 works good in m3 device so just need new wifi drivers added..
I am sure u can make this happen.
Thanks.

I really don't care how wifi set witn old builds of TLBB.

As far as I understand, currently future builds for all Amlogic based devices would based on WEXT for controling wifi.
This is how is set on J1nx's updated Buildroot tree and this is how it works in the builds I post.
I don't want to start linger around this issue.

As I said, maybe updating the kernel defconfig will help wifi (I will disable power saving in the next build).

All the developers complying GPL so if the drivers will be updated by a developer then it will be easy to compile an update build.

p.s.
I started playing with Gotham, it look quite good.

p.s.2
This isn't the proper place to disscuss this, we should move the thread to Linux support or ask for a proper Amlogic Linux forum.

Thanks again, looking forward to ur next build for this with updated kernel defconfig. It might fix wifi issues.
The main current issue is connect to wifi even it says wrong encryption key ,then box network status shows busy, gets ip address from wifi though .but no internet connection in box, sometime when status shows connected its all good.
Which linux environment u build this?is it Ubuntu ,what version ,I will try to compile too,I am new but want to learn.
Cheers

Here's my updated build for the RTL8188ETV, this one with the same kernel config as TLBB, I hope it will solve your issue.
http://d-h.st/kTi (md5 1dfdc1485507b84d059678d56a5acfdc)

Regarding building from source, I've been doing some restructuring to the branches as it was a mess.
I will fix that soon so you could build directly from my staging branch.

p.s

Here are Gotham builds (but this isn't the latest commit).

Keep in mind that these builds differs from Corey's Frodo by:
* Missing the PivosPowerSyscall so shutdown menu only restart XBMC (you can still shutdown from your ir remote).
* FFMPEG 1.2 (default on Gotham) compares to FFMPEG 1.2.4 + patches.
* Missing the audio sample rate remapping (amlogic dac doesn't work for all sample rates), I think this can be fixed from the kerenl side but we need first to properly test the m3 with different pcm sample rates.
* AudioEngine buffer size changes (which I don't know if need with Gotham).
* More little tweaks and patches which I personally don't care about regrading keyboard, storage and else.

M3_LINUX_GBOX_v2.3-update.zip 7980f9fc9d09d3dc731f6245665aed2a http://d-h.st/R4X

Edit:
Also built for the dual core MX device (IPTV18 Pro or g18_mx2), same remarks applied and also that the mali drivers are a bit olders (api 17 and not 20).
MX_LINUX-G18REF_MX2REF-update.zip 459c7945ed6d282684194fd3f3ec1226 http://d-h.st/zuA

p.s.
I don't plan to give any kind of support for these builds, I've compiled these for myself and decided to share.
If you encountered with any kind of issue you're welcome to download the code, fix them, compile your own build and even PR back.
The sources for the buildroot tree used is at https://github.com/MakakLabs/buildroot-amlogic-xbmc , to compile gotham you will need to checkout feature_gotham and rebase on staging.

Edit:
p.s. 2
Both the M3 "v2.3" device and the MX device got the RTL8188ETV card and both have the same issues with wireless so this might be driver related.
