Hi all.
Right I am brand new to xbmc only been using it for just over a week now an learning more an more about it every day. 1 thing I have learned is that my lap top just doesn't do xbmc justice. I have a acer with 3gb ram ( can't remember the other stats ) it's about 4 years old but for day to day it's grate. I want to build a dedicated htpc but I now 0% about pc components an setting them up. 1 of the biggest problems with the laptop is that when I'm watching film more so on 3d films on xbmc every couple of seconds there is a lag/jump that ruins the whole 3d experience.

The htpc will only be getting used to watch movies an listen to files I have in my
wd tvlivehub

Use xbmc

go online now an then for DLs

A BR player / righter would be good too

I have a 51" 3d samsung plasma so need graphics that will be good for it

I'm on a budget of about £300 maybe more more but need money for a av receiver
Doesn't need to look fantastic as it will be in a custom made unit but would like it quite
