Win how to upgrade existing nfo/fanart/poster... to Frodo standards
#1
Question
Hi,

I'm getting my systems ready for the upcoming XBMC Gotham (I'm still using Eden).
part of this exercice is to update all my poster, fanart...

At the moment, all my movies are settled with these files, see example below:

..\Africa - The Serengeti.(1994).720p
fanart.jpg
folder.jpg
movie.nfo
 poster.jpg
Africa - The Serengeti.(1994).720p.avi

These have worked fine with XBMC Eden

Now I'd like to upgrade these files to make them Frodo/Gotham compatible.

In EMM, I clicked the Frodo button. This had the effect that all my movies lost everything since EMM no longer recognizes the existing files.
If I manually check the option for fanart.jpg, movie.nfo.. etc. then EMM can find the files again.

If I rescrap the movies, EMM will recreate all these files again, but I cannot do this because I have manually set the genre for all the movies and on some occasions I have also set my own pictures for the poster and fanart and change the metadata. I do no wish to do this over again.

how can I do this upgrade operation?

Cheers,

HB

Atm we don't have an automatisation for this. But i'm working on a solution in beta 1.4.

I myself have my files renamed with the Bulk Rename Utility.

If you have used the same name for folder AND moviefile you can rename the files with this steps in BRU:

Note: always check the new file name in the preview!

Rename movie.nfo:

Selections (12):
Filter = movie.nfo
Checked = Folders, Files, Subfolder

Append folder name (9):
Name = Prefix
Levels = 1

Remove (5):
Words = movie

Rename poster,jpg:

Selections (12):
Filter = poster.jpg
Checked = Folders, Files, Subfolder

Append folder name (9):
Name = Prefix
Levels = 1

Add (7):
Prefix = -

Rename fanart,jpg:

Selections (12):
Filter = fanart.jpg
Checked = Folders, Files, Subfolder

Append folder name (9):
Name = Prefix
Levels = 1

Add (7):
Prefix = -

After some trials and errors, I found a way:
I locked the genres in the settings, then I rescrapped all the movies again.
This created all the missing files, updated a few NFO (maybe plot) but my custom genres remained intact.
