Gotham (26 march )

always problem calibration of screen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad
Reply
Today I notice that the "mute" doesn't mute in a linux (XBMCBuntu) when passing through any DTS/Dolby.
After press mute the correspondent icon is showed and the message "sound muted", but the sound still being played.
I don't know if this was introduced in Beta 2, but I'm sure that the mute was working in 12.x.

Here is a log: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=159080

Cheers.

In passthrough mode, no xbmc volume control happens, you should only see a message on screen, that passthrough is active. This did not change from v12.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Mute does mute even in pass through, since XBMC 9 (was the 1st XBMC I've run in pass through). I have no doubt of that. You can't control the volume, but you can (or could) mute.

Cheers.

no.

Perhaps some more explanation: Set Volume is already to stop be routed in Application.cpp - when you send unmute in passthrough mode, only thing you will get a "mute icon" in screen, but it won't do anything.

Upon every scene change, the video appears normal. However over time it starts to pixelate until the next scene change, where the video snaps back to normal. A couple screen shots:

Turning off VAAPI acceleration fixes the problem.

The interesting thing is, if I play a video with the level 3.0 (Main Profile) format it works fine:

Please let me know if there is anything more you need or anything else I can do.

Sorry for the huge post, and thanks a ton!

16 Reframes, variable frame rate - if you want trouble, i would continue to encode files like that. Put a sample up somewhere.

i have found a issue withe the latest beta i cant use airplay and the ios constalation app does not work any more tried a other router etc than installed 12.3 and it works again.

I am having some issued whit dual sound since beta 2.

If main sound is HMDI, menu , MP3's and TVshow themes are playing fine through my TV speakers
When I use pass through to optical, above mentioned is no longer working.

BUT when i start a movie or a TV show, then I do get sound on my speakers through my receiver.

How can this be possible? Use to work fine on beta 1.

I am using a Asrock ION 330 with Openelec Generetic

Ensure that your settings in system->services are correct (enabled zeroconf, enabled airplay, enabled http - the latter is for constellation app).

I will admit from the start that I am ignorant on alot of the encoding settings and their implications. I apologize for that. I'm not sure how it has happened on some of my videos, I use the constant quality and 'very slow' setting on Vidcoder, which from my understanding uses the handbrake libraries. From a little reading, I guess what must be happening is that using those presets will leave it up to the software to determine how many reference frames to use? Seems like I might be better off using defaults or a preset with less compression?

It seems like only a few movies have that many reference frames, and this distinguishes the ones that play correctly from the ones that don't.

Try downloading a sample from here: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil...4347099053

I appreciate the help.

in short: if you don't know exactly what you are doing with encoding options, stick to the presets.

I have a slightly special setup:
My Macbook Pro, or my Macbook Air (I'm in the process of switching the machine for XBMC, that has to do with the colorspace issue that I mentioned above, but it doesn't matter too much here) are connected to an HDMI Audio extractor and from there HDMI goes to the TV and optical audio to the AVR. When I switch off the TV the audio extractor fakes a display so that audio can still be received.
Under Frodo it works perfectly: I switch off the TV and with a slight pause audio resumes and all is well.
It does so as well under Gotham beta 2, the problem arises when I switch the TV back on. The picture comes back but the playback stops and I can not resume. When I try to play an audio file afterwards it comes back with the error that one or more items failed to play. When I start a video there is no sound and the picture hangs. The only remedy is to quit and relaunch XBMC.

Here is a log where this happens: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160271 (launch, start music, switch off TV, switch TV back on, playback stops without my doing and can't be turned on, quit)
There is no problem when the Laptop screen is on, here is a log of the same steps with the screen active: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160277 (XBMC draws to the TV/fake screen too, the laptop screen is just present)
Here it works in the first off/on cycle and stops on the second: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=160267 (maybe because fullscreen visualisation had not kicked in the first cycle?) I made this mainly to test if it had something to do with my skin, but it happened too under Confluence.

Again, all of this works under Frodo.

OS X.9.2, XBMC beta 2

Thank you very much

I just realized that the calibration adjustment screen (in the movie section OSD) does not work when I add the skin (all available skins, I do try it with all) if we let gotham with its interface to him, there is no problem. it works fine, but if I add (example: Refocus, aeon MQ5, it no longer works.) No adjustment of calibration screen.

Does changing the profile to high introduce the higher reference frames? The only reason I did was because I read the raspberry pi's accepted the high profile.

These videos play just fine on that with an older alpha (7, I think) version of XBMC on Openelec. Other than this, I didn't change any advanced settings. I just put the preset on 'very slow'.

I'm open to any advice.
