XBMC 13, Trusty, Intel Tearing
#1
Hey guys,

just finished setting up my new ZBOX ID67 with Intel HD 4400 with Ubuntu Trusty Beta and XBMC 13 beta 1 installed from team xbmc unstable repo.
Everything seems to work, incl. VAAPI, but I get massive horizontal video tearing.
Is there anything that I need to do, like disabling composite? I tried that in xorg.conf which results in black screen after boot.I am starting XBMC from within the standard desktop environment.
I would use XBMCBuntu, but my hardware seems too new to be fully supported ...

Is there any Intel guide with trusty out there? Couldn't find anything so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

boba

don't use a compositing window manager like unity/compiz

Use lubuntu or xubuntu with compton for composition.

In the thread linked to above, recompiling SDL got rid of the tearing for me. Fritsch also has another fix in this thread
