default skin clues to calibrate hdtv settings
#1
Hi all,

new here, just installed xbmc on a old pc and trying to get everything set up.
I remember reading somewhere that xbmc default home screen gives visual hints to tell if
color contrast brightness gamma.... are set right

I cant seem to find any info on this online when I search now
Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so how can I tell if everything is calibrated correctly

Thanks

XBMC does have a video calibration setting

wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Settings/System#Video_calibration...

But it is not for what you are describing, It allows you to calibrate the User Interface by adjusting the overscan. You only use this tool if the image being displayed is too large or small for your display.

If you want to calibrate your PC in the way you are talking about have a look at the following web page

My HTPC: an Acer Revo RL80 Nettop PC:
Windows 10
Intel Core-i3-2377M @ 1.5GHz, 4GB DDR3 @ 665MHz, Intel HD3000
465GB SATA disk, DVD-RW, 1.8TB Seagate USB disk

thanks for the response,

I am interested in how the interface itself changes...

one thing that I remember is when you press the power button and get the exit option screen, the surrounding lines get distorted if sharpness is to high.

There are other visual clues that I cant remember now that tell you everything from gamma to brightness to contrast

From what I remember if you know what to look for on the default start screen, you can check if everything is calibrated properly from the screen itself

I keep trying different google searches but cant find anything now....
