Playback flickering with XBMC on Darwin/IOS
#1
Hi all,

I have came across a very odd playback issue with XBMC running on iOS devices.

The symptoms are that when I playback some H264 video media there is a strange flicker before there is a full frame change - the flicker is just prior (maybe 10th of a second) just before the frame changes. I installed the latest nightly build (15th March) and the problem exists in that so it is from 12.3 upwards that is affected).

This only seems to come into play when streaming over HLS, streaming via RTMP is fine within XBMC.

I have played back media using HLS on my Win32 and Ouya machines and they appear to be unaffected. Playback on my iPad 3 and ATV2 are both affected.

I have a streaming link to some media that shows the issue - http://88.208.208.171:443/vod/tt2387559....ylist.m3u8

Playing this media through XBMC on iOS, the movie credits scenes at the start will show the issue.

I've submitted a ticket with this info including the associated debug log - I posted here incase the issue had been seen before.

If further info is needed then I can provide it - just reply in the ticket or here.

Thanks,

I have resubmitted a new ticket with the correct information - after a good few days I don't think any developers have looked at this because I incorrectly put that it affected 12.2. It actually affects all Frodo and Gotham releases.

Although I have a workaround for this I do hope it is fixed for Gotham production release.
