@
fission,
No the mesa patch is on the ppa:wsnipex/mesa already, even if the Trusty devs include it or not.

the existence of this asoundrc is a bug in the beta iso that will be fixed in the next build.
for system sounds: make sure the correct audio device is configured in xbmc and its not muted in alsamixer. If you have an AVR, you might need to enable "keep audio device alive"

quit xbmc and do:
speaker-test -c2 -D plughw:0,3 -r 48000
concerning the vdpauinfo, make sure you run that command with the very same user that is running the Xsession Also a debug log would be great. Choose the @@@ device

No idea. Log is perfectly fine. Make sure the device is not muted (alsamixer -c0) and provide aplay -L and aplay -L and amixer | pastebinit

retry with speaker-test -c2 -D plughw:0,7 -r 48000
Also remove your AVR, if there is one and directly connect to the TV.

Still no sound.
I'll try a ubuntu live CD and see if I get sound that way.. I'll let you know in a few minutes.

I am not sure the projector can produce sound via the hdmi output - are you sure that works?

I installed and updated XBMCBuntu on my HTPC yesterday.
Is this Lubuntu 14.04 LTS realease version or is this the RC/Beta version ?
Can I configure a NAS, an OwnCloud and an e-mail server with XBMCBuntu and use XBMC at the same time ?

Xbmcbuntu is a normal Ubuntu which ships xbmc session per default out of the box with some workarounds integrated and some packages preinstalled.
You can use it as every other normal Ubuntu. It is based up on 14.04, do sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and you will be on the final 14.04 LTS.
