I did solve (partially) the restarting issue on my end. Here is what I did.
Using ssh, I went to ~/.xbmc/addons/ and started removing the repositories, one bye one. I would delete one, wait for it to crash and move to the next. I removed appx 8 repos. When I removed tOmmO's repository (can't remember where I got this repo, its possible it was from xunity or xbmchub), the crashing stopped. It seems to be stable now, but I haven't moved around in xbmc much yet. I will report back if I notice anything else.
EDIT: as soon as I click on the "sports-a-holic" addon, it crashes again. Sportsdevil seems to work fine.

I believe I was using maxmusterman's repo. But... I also used the Sportsdevil-Fixes addon to update Sportsdevil.
Edit: No I was not using Maxmusterman's repo. I don't have his repo installed on my system.

Do the offending repos use github?

Please, can you tell us what addon have you installed on your XBMC ?
Because I also experience these crashes so way should have at least one common buggy addon...
