Need terminal help for Gotham.....

Trying to upgrade to Gotham on ATV2, went to the xbmcwiki, everything goes fine until step 4... the dpkg command and then it says no such file or directory. what am i doing wrong.

do the manual from scratch ... and post the outputs of each command to pastebin.com and put the link to it here then. Also i have moved you to the right section of our forum.

Thanks Memphiz. very green to coding. im sure im doing something wrong.
was able to swtich out to Gotham on gbox fairly easy (no coding involved).

You need to click on that url in a browser and then select the link for the latest file....

Which would give you http://mirrors.xbmc.org/apt/pre-release/...os-arm.deb

im sorry im an idiot. i click on that address and i get a list of mirrors

this is the newest one.

org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2_13.0-0~b2_iphoneos-arm.deb

do i need to make that command look like this....

wget org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2_13.0-0~b2_iphoneos-arm.deb

im soooo sorry. im a coding idiot.

Can you please let me know what you were doing wrong as i'm getting the exact same error message at dpkg command and then it says no such file or directory. I honestly thought it was a sign that I should be happy with 12.3 and call it quits but the more I read the more I have to know what it's like!
