Bug CNET video add-on not working
#16
Has anyone tried contacting the author of the plugin yet?

I guess the answer is no as no one has replied to you. I've no idea how to do that. If you know, can I suggest that you do so? As a previous poster has looked at the code and not found the cause, it would be best if the author were to take a look. If they are not interested then maybe someone else might like to take over the code? Personally, I'm beginning to question my use of XBMC as the add-ons are the only reason I use it.

In line 54 I see that the url changed from http://www.cnet.com/podcasts to http://www.cnet.com/cnet-podcasts
In line 55 beautiful soup is looking for div class="podcast" and I don't see that anymore. So it looks like that is no longer valid. I can't say whether the video id's have changed because I don't have a basis for comparison. If there is a skilled python dev in the house who would be willing to take a look at this code the community would be most grateful.

A temporary solution is to add CNET as a video source. From the XBMC home menu go to: Videos > Files > Add Videos...

Enter this path/address: rss://feeds2.feedburner.com/cnet/allhdpodcast

The name automatically fills with "All CNET Video Podcasts (HD)" so click ok.

You can now at least enjoy the current CNET video podcasts until a fix shows up.

Oh man, that is an excellent suggestion!

It never dawned on me to add an rss feed as a video source.
VIDEO SOURCE = any SOURCE! Doh!

I did this with my playon a year ago and forgot about it.

I made a new version of the addon to get it working again. Here's the thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=192868.

Cheers Skipmode A1, this works brilliantly!

Note that a 'Force refresh" and "Check for updates" to the 'XBMC.org Add-ons' repo didn't work for me, so I took the liberty to download the zip file from your github and then "Installed from zip file". I hope you don't mind if I post the link for others: https://github.com/skipmodea1/plugin.vid...t.podcasts

Thank you for making one of my favourite add-ons work again. Oh, and I'm glad I was able to help in some small way too Wink

No problem, enjoy it Smile

By the way, the update should become available in XMBC sometime today.
