ATV 2 crashing
#1
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, but not xbmc. For some reason xbmc has been crashing and sending me back to the Apple TV main menu. It's been happening randomly when I either watch movies, fast-forward movies, or try to watch 3d movies. I've already tried uninstalling infuse, but it's still happening. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can you get us a debug and crash log for this? See IOS_FAQ#logs (wiki) for how to get them.

I just read through the process of obtaining crash logs, but it doesn't say exactly how to get started? I'm confused, can you help me out?

Copy the file to a computer using something like CyberDuck (wiki), then copy/paste to a paste site like pastebin.com.

It's a little easier with the debug log, see debug log (wiki), since you can use the XBMC add-on instead of CyberDuck, but the devs typically want the crash reporter log too.

I'm having trouble with XBMC crashing on Apple TV v2. It has been happening all along with every version up to the current Gotham Beta 3.

Essentially, I have a large playlist of a bunch of items in my library. Many times, I'll fall asleep and wake up with ATV2 back at the ATV2 menu. Other times, the crash seems to happen when hitting the 'Skip 30' forward or backward buttons for skipping commercials as many shows were recorded via PVR.

There doesn't seem to be any particular file this happens on (most are MKV containers with AVC video and AC3 audio) and it also seems to start getting sluggish after playing many hours of program material. As a programmer myself, it sounds memory-leak related, but I'm not familiar enough with XBMC's code to make that determination from the logs.

It seems to run fine for many hours, than all of a sudden, poof!

The latest logs are:
xbmc.log: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=162875
corresponding atv2 latest crash log: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=162876

I know it's not something completely preventing xbmc from running, but would be great if you guys could resolve this.

Thanks!

Best,
guitardood

EDIT: I've got quite a few crash logs as well as some ExcResource logs if you need them, but only the latest xbmc.log file above.
EDIT: Reposted under it's own topic
