Television airing shows out of order
#1
I've NEVER noticed this before because well, I don't actually watch TV. Most shows I watch were aired in order or were presented in order online.

However, because of this increasing trend to air shows out of order (Firefly, Dont Trust the B____, Almost Human, Enlisted, etc.) I was wondering if there was a wikipedia page/master list of shows that air out of order that way I can change those shows to DVD order in XBMC.

This seems to be HUGE on Fox shows by the way and they seem to not realize that it almost always leads to low ratings/confusion. But well, considering the intelligence of Fox network in general I'm not surprised...

Using Firefly as an example

Checking the TVDB http://thetvdb.com/?tab=seasonall&id=78874&lid=7 at the bottom is DVD & air dates of episodes
Wikipedia has listed some detail https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29
Fan pages we have http://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/Firefly no shortage of episode information.

What I meant was that I didn't want to have to go through all 200+ tv shows and figure out which ones were aired out of order and fix them. Was hoping that there might be a masterlist somewhere out there of TV shows that were aired out of order so I had a starting point of which TV shows to search through.

Firefly was just one example of shows that I had labeled wrong since it was aired out of order and I had the DVD order listed but labeled it through theTVDB as airdate.

I guess I'll just have to be careful when adding shows now since it's a growing trend in 2013/2014 to air shows out of order.

JJ Abrams shows were hard enough to follow(Lost) with the large hiatuses between seasons and insane story line but now they want to air the episodes out of order on his new show he is apart of, Almost Human. That's insane to me. I just won't watch TV Shows episode by episode off TV and just google them to see if they are aired in correct order now.

It should be a crime to do this. Where's Batman when you need him.

It should be a crime!
Has there ever been one documented case ever where a person was like "Wow, watching these episodes out of order really made this series so much better?" No? Then why do they do it.....

I'd like to say it's because TV producers are idiots (which is probably mostly true), but I'm guessing it's more to do with the fact that only in the past 10-20 years or so has episode order really begun to matter, and a lot of the producers out there still live in a world where it didn't matter which episode of Cheers was going to be on next.

For a really fun fact, check out the aired order of Clerks: The Animated Series. They aired the second episode first, which was already insane because it was a clips episode based exclusively on the first episode. Without seeing the first episode, it went from making hardly any sense, to making literally zero sense at all.

It's not the producers. It's the network executives. Although, Firefly is a well known example of both producers (Whedon) and network (FOX) killing the product because of petty stuff.
I make set posters! (I also take requests)

You can set ordering (if TVDB set as scraper for tv series) - to go for DVD order or Absolute order. Reccommend DVD order. You'll find this by right-clicking on the TV-show source, go for "change contents". If you do this for the entire source - you shouldn't have to worry.

Ive checked this for this show, http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=190846 its all in there but when one want magical things to happen without user input or user actually doing work, then theres no solution but to rant like hell Wink OF course Im not agreeing that its ok to confuse the target audience. What could be done after the fact is on tvdb and ppl that put info there which already is done, though no magic renames your crap either and detects/mind reads how you want it and how it shoud be and bows to your wishes. Maybe one day, but not today Smile
