Odd issues with video playback and no clue where to start
#1
My setup:
Computer running Windows 8 w/ shared folders (Movies, TV Shows, Documentaries, etc)
Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC reading shares via SMB
USB Hub on Pi with Edimax EW-7811Un for wireless connection

I've been running Raspbmc on my Pi for months with no issues. I decided to switch over to OpenELEC, and now I'm having issues with video playback. When I click a video, it loads for 1-2 minutes then nothing happens. While it's loading, XBMC freezes. Once it finishes loading, it unfreezes but the screen never changes.

Temporary/Possible Cures I've found. These don't always work, but they've worked at least once:
  1. Restarting the Pi
  2. Editing the workgroup in XBMC settings (not actually changing it - just editing and closing) then restarting
  3. Browsing by file manager on XBMC and clicking the actual video file
I've also found that, generally, if I can get a video to play, all subsequent videos will play as long as I play them back-to-back. I thought maybe this proved that it was an idle/sleep issue (possibly the wifi adapter going to sleep), but I have internet access 100% of the time. SportsDevil, weather, etc always work. I only have issues with playing files over my local network.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
