My setup:
Computer running Windows 8 w/ shared folders (Movies, TV Shows, Documentaries, etc)
Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC reading shares via SMB
USB Hub on Pi with Edimax EW-7811Un for wireless connection
I've been running Raspbmc on my Pi for months with no issues. I decided to switch over to OpenELEC, and now I'm having issues with video playback. When I click a video, it loads for 1-2 minutes then nothing happens. While it's loading, XBMC freezes. Once it finishes loading, it unfreezes but the screen never changes.
Temporary/Possible Cures I've found. These don't always work, but they've worked at least once:

- Restarting the Pi
- Editing the workgroup in XBMC settings (not actually changing it - just editing and closing) then restarting
- Browsing by file manager on XBMC and clicking the actual video file
