Subtitles missing from official repo
#1
Hi,

After upgrading to 20.2 I found that the opensubtitles addon was disabled because of incompatibility with the kodi version. So I wanted to reinstall it from scratch. But if I open the Add-on browser and go to the "Kodi Add-on repository" it looks I am missing a lot of categories, including subtitles. The only categories that are listed are "Game add-ons", "Information providers", "Look and feel", "Video add-ons", "Web interface". I think this is incomplete and I wonder how I can solve this.

Thx,

Kr

settings -> player -> subtitles -> Default TV show service / Default movie service (at the bottom of the screen) -> "get more"

if you dont see it then put settings level higher than Basic

Thank you for your answer. There is no "get more".
All I see is this: https://pasteboard.co/IzFqhTr6qFr5.jpg

you are not using the default skin and i have no idea what it is or how it acts or even if it has been updated

see the wiki https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Set_up_subtitle_services

note it's screenshots are of the Default skin Estuary

It is the default OSMC skin. With Estuary it looks like this: https://pasteboard.co/MyySKTC4rOlB.jpg
So, same problem. No "Get more" choice. Maybe because I do not have any subtitles addon enabled anymore? (I have no idea how subtitles addons and subtitles services work together)

ah i see, you're not even using Kodi, you're using OSMC, a forked and modified (by someone else) Kodi - https://www.comparitech.com/kodi/kodi-osmc-fork/

better to ask them on their forum - https://discourse.osmc.tv/

When the "Get More" button is missing, it normally means there is no internet connection to the device.

Are you connected to the internet? Can you install other addons from the repo?
Provide a Debug Log that captures you trying to get subtitles.

I tried to update the Dutch language addon:
https://paste.kodi.tv/bokirihaje.kodi

I can download the file (http://download.osmc.tv/kodi/addons/leia...9.0.22.zip) with wget. Internet connectivity is fine.

I also found another error that could be related.

Is it a fork? I do not think so. It is the same package I think. osmc is the underlying OS.

based on, as in, not Kodi

the same way Ubuntu is "based on" Debian but is not Debian - https://ubuntu.com/community/governance/debian
