When I boot into XBMCbuntu (13.0 Beta 3) with my Fostex HP-A3 DAC (with headphone amplifier) connected via USB and S/PDIF I only have these audio devices under System - System - Audio Outputs:
There is sound via USB, but apart from the fact that the level is too low I only want to use USB for powering the DAC and use S/PDIF for audio output, but I cannot get sound through this.
When I unplug the USB cable and boot into XBMCbuntu the audio device selection is as usual:
Now I can connect the DAC via USB again and can use "HDA Intel, ALC887 Digital S/PDIF" without any issues.
Of course I could use the DAC with a USB power supply separately, but maybe there is a way to get audio running with the existing setup.
