Bug Phantom movies in library: videodb://1/2 etc.
#1
Hi

I am having troubles getting my files into the movie libraries (as reported in another thread, since it seems like a different problem). But XMBC has no problem at all listing movies that I have never heard of. So this phantom movies are always with a numeric title and it's filename is listed something like this: videodb://1/22

How can I avoid this? Any help is appreciated!!

Also, cleaning library removes those phantom files, but an update adds new ones. It seems like it must be something with temporary files or strings - I don't know. Is it possible that I may have fumbled around with video file extensions? If so, where?

A look at the debug log reveals (grepped for videodb):

third and hopefully last try: http://pastebin.com/5UWCveYk

In my sources.xml I have two sources - one with tv shows and one with movies. The problem only occurs in movies.

Sources XML concerning videos:

Code:
<video>
        <default pathversion="1"></default>
        <source>
            <name>disk-movies</name>
            <path pathversion="1">/media/yak/movies/</path>
        </source>
        <source>
            <name>series</name>
            <path pathversion="1">/media/yak/series/</path>
        </source>
    </video>

XBMC 12.3, sorry forgot that

Hi,

disablin script.lazytv didn't change the fact that this videodb:// movies are added to the movies database. Series remain unaffected.

I did a google search for my problem, there seems only one other person with the same log message:

I do not know if its relevant but after restoring my library some directories started showing in the library without being listed as a sources (I have to mention that these folders were not listed in sources.xml). I cannot recall if they were listed as a source initially but wanted them no more in my library.

In order to remove these paths from the library i tried to re-add them first to the source list.

I was going to add them a source but XBMC didn't bring up the usual windows - like the path i was adding as a source was an existing source. I canceled the operation but the path in question showed up as a source. Then i was able to removed it and after a library cleaning the library was finally free of these ghost entries.

Hi

Ok, the problem in my case is that I do not know where these files come from. The only think indicated is that their filename and path is this videodb://4/12 or similar. And the log says rescanning directory videodb://4/12 and so on. So I am not sure what is the origin of the movie entry.

Thanks for your information tough!

So I have not made advances here. These videodb-files are being added randomly on each library update. A librar cleaning removes them imeadiately. Updating the library again adds some random movies - it seems to me it must be something with temporary files or entries in the DB.

Please, if anybody can help, come forward. I'll be glad to provide more information.

You're not the only one, although what I can find is inconclusive. Some suggest that it's a network problem, and this happens when your machine isn't on the Internet - although XBMC should work fine without a network connection, so that's not intentional. Some suggest that it's just a corrupt video database, and you need to clear that out, either by brute force (get rid of everything and re-scan) or by precision surgery (e.g. delete from path where strPath like "videodb://%"; into the database).

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22vid...66&bih=657

I wondered if it was related at all to the errors you're getting on series such as "bbc planet earth" and "the_wire" - do you have your sources defined properly? Are you using folder names for lookup when you should be using file names (for example)? Other thought: is it something you've imported via a dubious nfo file, perhaps?

The videodb links and numbers seem to refer to specific windows or dialogue boxes within XBMC, see Video_nodes (wiki) and Opening_Windows_and_Dialogs (wiki).

The only way this happens is if content is set on a "videodb://" path. That's it. No other possibilities.

This usually occurs when the user adds a videodb:// path and sets content on it, but it could potentially be an add-on that causes it.

As Prof Yaffle suggests, the only way to fix it is to make that sql call on the database.

Hi,

If I had to choose from your options I'd say it is a problem with the database itself since I am always connected to the internet.

So if I'd go for the presicion surgery option I guess. The funny thing about it is that the "clean library" action recognizes those movies as false entries. So i guess I'd need to first make a clean library and then look for strPath contains videodb within the DB, right?

I hope I will not regret this Smile

Like the X-Files, you are not alone.

I have a remote MySQL database, and this started happening about 3 weeks ago. I think when I installed beta 4.

It happened every time I scanned for new movies. I wiped the database, and they just keep coming back.

My solution, that seems to be working so far: I had a ghost share (smb path) under my "movies" that didn't exist anymore (due to a catastrophic drive crash). I deleted that path and everything seems to work.

Hehe, good to know that I am not alone.

The problem has actually solved itself when upgrading to XBMC 13. That's great Smile

So anything with this problem try to upgrade ;-)

Can I mark the thread as solved somehow?
