Audio through HDMI or sep soundcard
#1
Hi

I would like to know if someone is using a soundcard for audio instead of HDMI-through.... and if there might be any pros or cons for theese options??

And if someone think another grafic card would be better. I dont play i just want to have the best hardware for enjoying film and streaming from for ex. Netflix.

My HTPC
GeForce GTX Ti
Intel i7-3770 3,40GHz
16 GB Ram
SSd systemdisk
win7 pro

Lokking forward to inputs and ideas.

Cheers

Back 3-4 years ago I purchased separate sound card.
The only reason was to support analog 7.1 outputs and be able to process FLACs with 192Khz sampling.
HDMI support in XBMC was kind of pain back than.

As of right now I don't use it anymore as Gotham supports everything perfectly with HDMI (new Audio Engine)

Your nvidia card looks good to me Smile

If you system is decent then HDMI should be all you need for Audio.

Bitstreaming un-molested codec to AVR for decoding using HDMI is the best for Blu-ray movie....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!
