Hardware for Live TV
#1
Is there any way in which I can connect an existing external digital TV tuner to watch Live TV on XBMC.
I have two of these STBs - cable and OTA Freeview.
I am in New Zealand.

Any advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

Depends on the STBs. You can use a video capture device (e.g. Haupauge colossus). However they are very restrictive, though it may be the only practical solution for the encrypted channels on cable - take a look at local NZ forums for advise on what is possible with your local cable signal and your box (which I presume the cable company supplied).
A far better & cheaper solution (for freeview anyway), is to just buy a tuner & set up your PC as a PVR backend. Also may be possible with cable, but that depends on your cable provider's encryption.

For OTA you'll need a DVB-T tuner (those are really cheap), for cable you'll need a DVB-C tuner (those are quite expensive).
