XBMC Crashes after a few hours of Non-Use
#1
I am having a problem... frodo 12.3... apple tv 2...

XBMC crashes and goes back to the apple tv 2 main screen after several hours of non use... say i stop watching at night and then try to watch the next day... it seems after I try to load up anything it reboots by itself and needs to load up evertyhing again.

I bought it loaded with a ton of addons installed, i have deleted a massive amount of them trying to lighten the storage up and it still happens.

I have downloaded my crash logs for the last 2 days... which are FILLED with error lines... and was hoping someone could help me decipher what the problem is....

Crash logs

If i could get anyones help with this it would be greatly appreciated...

This seems to be a recurring error in the logs...

ERROR: SQL: The database disk image is malformed

comes up like 300 times... I assume this is causing an overload of some sort...

I have looked up the wiki walkthrough and a ton of other forums but cant seem to understand what i need to do to fix this...

I would like to be able to use my xbmc via appletv 2 and not have it reset all the time... Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Go into userdata (wiki)/Database/ and delete all of the "textures.db" files, then restart XBMC.

Thank you ned scott... I appreciate you getting back to me... Do you think that will stop it from resetting randomly + more specifically after a period of non use... ?

I have been searching all morning and read the wiki walkthroughs and will probably be able to figure out how delete the textrues.db files once I figure out how to locate them.... I do not have a apple computer or... a windows computer for that matter.

Is there a way to access and delete those files from within atv2 xbmc itself?

And Also will that mean that all thumbnails and fanart will be deleted and no longer available for browsing?

here is the latest crash log just for more info...

It might. It will at least get rid of the SQL malformed errors in the log and help make it easier to spot issues.

You should be able to delete it via the filebrowser (wiki) in XBMC.

Images will still be there. XBMC might take a moment to think about them being there to attempt to re-cache some images, but none will change.

First I must say THANK YOU for helping me... I found the texture file which was about 3.5 MB large and deleted it and reset and it works fine (albeit tonight will be the true test when i try to get it to work after a period of non use)... i noticed that there were some other big files...

oncechannelcache
and the thumbnails were quite large as well...

I was just wondering if those were "deleteable" as well... I didnt want to do it without making sure it was ok... ive seen other atv2's work quite quickly and i just wanted to clean out some of the memory and disk space so it could work a little easier... what do you think?

i pulled up my logs after I deleted that textures.db file and the erros from malformed database are gone... which is amazing...

there are a few others... not sure if they are significant... mind taking a look?
