I am trying to put a new internal HDD in my HTPC to replace the external (USB) drive currently in use to store the stuff. It is physically in and recognised in BIOS but when I come out of XBMC using ctrl+alt+F2 I get a flashing cursor (which I need to do formatting commands) but I can't input anything from the keyboard. Any ideas?? I am running openelec 3.2.4 and the HTPC boots from a separate SSD. Thanks, Phil

Use ssh. OpenELEC does not have a Terminal Shell on F2 by default.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

If you are sshing from windows then putty is the best option.
