You need to be both and expert in GPU coding AND video decode and finding someone with both is like finding a needle in a haystack. So, I would not wait for such a solution, you are better off trying to win the mega-powerball lottery.

The oracle has spoken!

I think we can probably assume that the VDPAU stuff from the mythtv thread may well be Allwinner only then?

Not wanting to hi-jack or derail the thread, but the VDPAU stuff done on allwinner CPU's is Reverse Engineerd stuff and does NOT require any blobs to function. We can do mplayer with accelerated playback on a simple X window. There's still lots of work to be done to get this working with XBMC however. http://linux-sunxi.org/Cedrus

But yeah, in a few months/years from now, fully opensource media player will be possible (if not everybody gives up int he meantime Wink

Check out our site at http://linux-sunxi.org to learn more about the community around the Allwinner A-series socs.

So, I have had this thing for over a month now.
I used it exclusively for 3 weeks and it does everything I need it to do.

Runs Linux / XBMC (Gotham) Hardware accelerated
High bitrate videos (15Mbps) play without dropped frames and are smooth. Wired or wireless.
Live streaming video addons work great
Lirc is working with a minor tweak
Its a TINY device (Credit card footprint)
PWM fan control (Not quite silent but VERY quiet)

$130 Delivered with all needed accessories

This thing can be a desktop computer replacement for light to med duty.

Can it handle 10bit?
Do you use an audio receiver?

Thanks!

Last I saw 2 channel decide only and the devs had no idea how to add passthrough.
