I have been testing this on one PC and have a number of things set the way I like. For instance, I am using the Showcase type of list, with the 4Thumbs style. I love it, it's pretty much everything I want.
I just installed xbmc on a new PC today and have been trying to get various settings re-established (odd that the xbmc backup/restore didn't do the settings even though it says it backs up configuration settings. Anyway, I now have most everything back the way it was on the test PC and I have it in the main room (with receiver and projector). But, a funny thing happened on the way to the library when looking at sets.
The first set that I went to was in List view, so I changed it. Then the next set that I went to was also in List view. And another and another. On my test system, I didn't have to change the way the sets displayed. What happened? Why did I lose this, and why doesn't it use the same setting change in all of the sets?
